I’m Janis. M. Jones, an artist with a passion for creating the invisible into the visible through the eloquent medium of Art, studying and using the techniques and methods of the Old Masters e.g., Leonardo DaVinci, Michael Angelo, Van Dyke, and 18th /19th Century masters e.g John Singer Sargent, Leighton, Vermeer, Rembrandt, to name just a few.
"I envision creating Timeless and Enduring works of Art that will evoke the True nature of our human experience for others to enjoy and that will stand the test of time. To capture and share ideas and concepts that could be life transformative to the viewer.
As I believe, Art is not about what I see but what I can get others to see.... Hence I will always be asking myself, What Truth do I see that the world needs to discover?"
My journey began under the mentorship of Maestro Michael John Angel, a world renowned Artist and Director of The Angel Art Academy in Florence, Italy, where I honed my skills and developed my unique artistic voice. Through 15 years of study and practice, from 2014 till date, I have explored various techniques, focusing on Classical Representational Art. Techniques and methods used by the Old Masters, and studying their sublime understanding of colour and form that were conducive in creating timeless works of Art, That have resonated with us through the ages. I work in Oil and meticulously finish with a Masters Varnish that guarantees the endurance of the painting. Each painting, reflecting my dedication to craftsmanship and creativity.
In my work, I aim to capture the essence, mood, and enigma of everyday life. I am inspired to look for the dormant, authentic story in every individual, to look for the deeper, hidden, sometimes trapped spark of Life, and to somehow release 'That I Am' with awareness in my Portraits, Landscapes and Conceptualized paintings. To find the Specific and create the Eternal. There are paintings in my collection that are representative and are interpretations of Master paintings which we studied at the Angel Art Academy, Florence. Italy.
